Waterfall and Lake on the Cetina River

Alongside rafting and canoeing, canyoning is certainly the most popular activity on the Cetina. It is the only way to uncover all the secrets of this incredible river and its canyon. If you are not a fan of such activities, or are not in a position to do them, there are still ways to reach at least some of the Cetina’s hidden spots. This is exactly one of those. Although easily accessible, it is fairly hidden and known to few people.
The trail begins at a bend 400 m northeast of Pavića most. From there a gravel road (Težačka ulica) sets off, leading through the fields, parallel to the Cetina heading east. Although you can keep going by car along the gravel almost to the end of the trail, it would be a shame not to walk through this landscape. Dry-stone walls, greenery and the plantings along the river give the whole scene a picturesque touch.
Keeping the view from being perfect are the numerous power lines and the Kraljevac hydroelectric plant as their source. Setting aside the visual aspect, we have nothing against hydroelectric plants as a source of electricity, provided they alter the environment in which they are built as little as possible.
After a 1.5 km walk along the gravel, you reach a large bend. This is also the furthest point you can reach by car. Težačka cesta continues uphill toward the village to the west, while the trail to the waterfall carries on straight ahead through the forest.
An information board with details about the protected landscape of the Cetina river, as well as the aforementioned canyoning tours, somehow give us legitimacy to publish a location that some perhaps would rather not have become known.
The trail begins to descend toward the sound of water. Soon, through the thicket, a view of the rapids opens up on the right. Beautiful!
The last stretch, perhaps twenty or so metres, we cross over large rocks that require occasional use of the hands.
The view of the waterfall and the lake that forms beneath the cliff on which the Kraljevac hydroelectric plant sits is something that makes us eagerly await every next trip!
The Cetina river is full of beautiful rapids and waterfalls. Its source is a wonder of nature, and the cliffs and landscapes of the canyon are at times surreal!

Although our focus is on Croatia, due to great interest in reviewing some international locations from our travels, we decided to launch the Special section.
