Pupnatska Luka

In our series of articles about the island of Korčula, we bring a review of some of its beaches. This island has plenty of them, and the four we decided to cover will give a very nice picture of what you can expect on Korčula in that regard. These are Žitna, Pupnatska Luka, Bačva, and Bratinja Luka.

Pupnatska Luka is one of the most famous coves on the island of Korčula. It has a beautiful beach, a huge parking lot, and unlike many other coves, an excellent road leads to it. Naturally, all of this contributes to its popularity, so we found far more people on this beach than on any other beach on the island.

However, at no point did we feel like we were in a crowd! We even found a part of the beach where we were completely alone (!?!).

Once again, it turned out that most people shy away from the unconventional. Specifically, right in the middle of the beach, there is a section with large rocks that we immediately liked. Scattered between these rocks is beautiful fine shingle. A true paradise!!!

Although we prefer secluded beaches without people, we found it extremely pleasant here and wouldn’t mind spending several days in this spot.

The huge parking lot on the road is paid. Only daily tickets are sold, but the price is fair. At the beach entrance, there is a nicely integrated beach bar. It reminded us a bit of a similar establishment at Cape Kamenjak below Premantura. A real summer buzz. The atmosphere is cheerful, and the surrounding nature is wild and beautiful.

During our visit, the beach bar served fast food (burgers, etc.). Besides this spot, there are two more restaurants in the cove. The service and selection are very basic, but the food quality and prices are fair. The building closest to the beach is quite eyesore. We truly don’t understand how some people feel no need to create something beautiful. The biggest criticism, however, goes to an oversized architectural metastasis on the right side of the cove.

If you ignore that, Pupnatska Luka is beautiful. Clean sea, enough space for many people without feeling crowded, the option to grab a bite, a perfect choice of sunshades… For those who enjoy the summer bustle, this cove is definitely highly recommended!
