Hum Hill and Greben Viewpoint

Hum Hill (377 m) is the highest point of the western part of Korčula. It represents a dominant peak from which Vela Luka can be seen as if in the palm of your hand.

In addition to Vela Luka, all approaches to the island of Korčula from the west are clearly visible from here, and when weather conditions are favorable, the view to the south reaches all the way to Italy.

The strategic position of Hum has been recognized throughout history, leading to the construction of a military fortress during the Austro-Hungarian rule. The Forteca fortress was used for some time afterward, but today it is abandoned and devastated.

Although there are several peaks on the eastern side of the island higher than Hum, since Korčula is a large island, the view to the east looks just as open as the one towards the sea, making it feel as though you are at the highest point of the island the entire time.

Greben Viewpoint
Greben Viewpoint is a beautiful place that you definitely need to experience!
It radiates incredible peace. Time loses its significance here, and stress becomes unknown…

The turnoff for the Greben viewpoint is located on the road to the top of Hum on the left side. It is about a 15-minute walk along the asphalt road from the summit. If you are with a car, you can park in a few spots along the road here 42.94216686134564, 16.688902117596047. From there, a marked trail leads to the viewpoint in about ten minutes.

Greben is a relatively newly renovated viewpoint. It extends quite far towards the southwest, and although it is lower (310 m), this part of the island is seen better from there than from the top of Hum. That is why a Croatian Forests observation post for early fire warning is stationed here.

Unlike the top of Hum, which is somewhat marred by a transmitter and the ruined fortress, the Greben viewpoint offers a much more pleasant ambiance. The views to the west and south have a hypnotic power.
If you are visiting Vela Luka, Hum and Greben should definitely be on your list!
Special
Although our focus is on Croatia, due to great interest in reviewing some international locations from our travels, we decided to launch the Special section. In it, we will not cover locations in the same detailed way we do with Croatian ones, but will instead provide a brief overview of multiple locations grouped into meaningful categories. The only criterion we still strictly follow is that they must be natural attractions.
