Blue Eye of the Neretva River

Modro oko (Blue Eye) and the lakes of Desne form a special ornithological reserve covering over 140 hectares in the Neretva Valley. The entire area is rich in water springs, of which Modro oko is the largest. This wetland area, crisscrossed with lakes and tributaries, is of invaluable importance as a habitat for many plant and animal species.
The color of Modro oko is truly special, and we didn’t manage to fully capture it in the photos.

The lake is located very close to the road, where a small viewpoint with an info board and benches has been set up. You can leave your car at a widening a few dozen meters further down, next to a road turn-off, from where a macadam path leads about 100 meters to the lake’s shore.
The lake has an intense blue color that we couldn’t quite capture in photos. In person, it is much more beautiful!

The gentle murmur of water and the sounds of frogs and birds are the only soundtrack to this oasis of peace, which both the soul and body will enjoy.

Special
Although our focus is on Croatia, due to great interest in reviewing some international locations from our travels, we decided to launch the Special section. In it, we will not cover locations in the same detailed way we do with Croatian ones, but will instead provide a brief overview of multiple locations grouped into meaningful categories. The only criterion we still strictly follow is that they must be natural attractions.
