The Tounj bridge

Tounj is a small place set in a picturesque landscape east of Ogulin.
On its southern approach stands an old two-storey bridge, the symbol of Tounj. The bridge was built in 1775, and in 1836 another storey was added to it in order to ease the gradient of the legendary Jozefina road. It is decorated with stone statues of Roman soldiers and is today the only two-storey bridge in this part of Europe. It joins the banks of the Tounjčica, a tributary of the Mrežnica (the Karlovac one).
Beside the bridge there is a rest area laid out in beautiful countryside by the river. There is plenty of parking, and the spot is ideal for a short break from the journey.

Special
Although our focus is on Croatia, due to great interest in reviewing some international locations from our travels, we decided to launch the Special section. In it, we will not cover locations in the same detailed way we do with Croatian ones, but will instead provide a brief overview of multiple locations grouped into meaningful categories. The only criterion we still strictly follow is that they must be natural attractions.
