The Waterfall in Dubrava and Ljubiš Peak
In the surroundings of Split, there is a whole series of locations that are not well known, yet they are very interesting for both short and long excursions. Today, we headed to exactly one such location. We set off towards Dubrava, situated at the foot of Mosor. We knew roughly where we were going, but a large part of the trip was pure improvisation.
Since the weather conditions were specific—namely, on our usual route towards Skočibe it was quite windy and cold (snow had fallen on the peaks of Mosor)—we decided to explore a bit and descend through the fields to the Church of St. Arnir.
We left the car at the approach to the church, just before the bridge.

Saint Arnir (Rainerius) was a high-ranking church dignitary. In 1154, he became a bishop, and while holding that office, he participated in many important events of that era. During a conflict with the Kačić tribe regarding episcopal estates in Poljica, he was stoned and killed on October 4, 1180.

A small stone church was built at the site of his martyrdom, and even today, water springs from the floor, which is believed to be miraculous.

The trail from the church continues to the southwest and is quite easy. If you wish, you can make it more difficult by descending into the stream canyon. By doing so, we extended the trail from about an hour to double that time. The descent into the canyon is not marked. The terrain is a bit more demanding, and depending on the choice of route, you can easily find yourself in a dangerous situation, so one must be careful and wear appropriate footwear.

The stream is interesting. There are small waterfalls on it, and the environment, even though it was a cloudy winter day, was not uninteresting at all.

Further south, the trail begins to descend towards the old road that leads from Sitno Gornje to Gata. If you do not descend into the canyon, it takes about half an hour of walking from the car to this road.

As it was still early to head back, we decided to cross the road and visit the hunting lodge on the other side. The turn for it is located here: 43.48933140453411, 16.647447610518732. It is about a ten-minute walk to the lodge. Behind it is a large meadow, and the whole landscape looks very interesting. From there, we took the marked trail uphill and decided to climb the nearby peak Ljubiš (623 m) located to the west. It takes about half an hour of ascent from the hunting lodge to the peak.

From the top, there are beautiful views towards Omiš, Split, and Dubrava to the north. The stunning Mosor in the background further completed the entire vista.

Special
Although our focus is on Croatia, due to great interest in reviewing some international locations from our travels, we decided to launch the Special section. In it, we will not cover locations in the same detailed way we do with Croatian ones, but will instead provide a brief overview of multiple locations grouped into meaningful categories. The only criterion we still strictly follow is that they must be natural attractions.
